Configure Your Windows Computer to Use iprint anywhere

Learn how to configure your Windows computer to use iprint anywhere.

If You Used iprint anywhere Before August 31, 2011

Delete any printers you set up before August 31, 2011. If you did not use iprint anywhere before August 31, 2011, skip to Configuring iprint anywhere for Windows.

Deleting Printers for Windows 7 and Vista

  1. Select Start > Control Panel.
  2. Click Devices and Printers.
  3. Click to highlight the printer you wish to remove.
  4. Right-click and select Remove device.
  5. Follow the directions for Configuring iprint anywhere for Windows.

Deleting Printers for Windows XP

  1. From the Start menu select Control Panel, then Printers and Faxes.
  2. Highlight the printer to be removed.
  3. Right-click and select Delete.
  4. Follow the directions for Configuring iprint anywhere for Windows.

Configuring iprint anywhere for Windows:

Configure your computer to use iprint anywhere. Your print job must be released at a Print Release or pay station before it will print.

Configure from either ResNet or a UB Secure wireless connection from on campus. From off campus, connect first using Cisco AnyConnect.

Windows 7 and 8

Configuring Windows Vista for iprint anywhere is similar.

  1. For Windows 7, click the Windows Start button. For Windows 8, press the Windows key and R.
  2. Enter \\iprint.buffalo.edu\NAME for Search programs and files box where NAME is the print queue name that you have chosen.
  3. Log in using your UBITName prefixed with ad\ (for example, ad\UBITName) and then enter your UBITName password.

Windows XP

  1. In the Control Panel, open Printers.
  2. Double-click Add Printer to open the Add Printer Wizard, then click Next.
  3. Select A network printer... Click Next.
  4. Click Connect this network printer.
  5. Enter the name \\iprint.buffalo.edu\ As you type, you will see a list of iprint printers. Highlightthe printer without a hyphen at your desired print location. Click Next.
    If the list does not appear or you need more information about the printers, type the full name of a printer \\iprint.buffalo.edu\NAME where NAME is the printer location.
  6. When prompted, log in using your UBITName preceded with ad\ (for example ad\UBITName) and then enter your UBIT password.
  7. Click Finish.
