Find My Computer's IP Address

An "IP Address" is a unique number assigned to each online device. Finding your computer's IP Address can help the CIT Help Desk identify the source of your printing problem.

Instructions

From Any Computer

Windows 8

  1. Click the Network icon > Network and Internet.
  2. Next to Connections, click on your wireless network's name.
  3. Cllick Details. The IP Address is next to IPv4.

Windows 7

  1. Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Under Connection, click View Status.
  3. Click Details.

Macintosh OS X 10.5 and Newer

  1. Select the Apple menu > System Preferences > Network.
  2. Click on the name of your network.

Linux Computers

At a prompt, type ifconfig eth0

UBUnix

At a prompt, type /sbin/ifconfig

The numbers next to Bcast are your IP address.
