Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

  • Internet-connected computer or compatible mobile device
  • Jabber software:
    • UB-Owned Windows or Mac: Downloaded and installed by your IT staff
    • Personally Owned Windows or Mac: Downloaded by you (Windows, Macintosh)
    • Android or iOS: Downloaded by you from Google Play Store or Apple App Store (iOS)  
  • Account set up for voice service:
    • UB Phone customers receive Cisco Jabber as standard, no request is necessary .
    • If your account is not set up for voice service, you will receive only Instant Messaging. If you believe this in error or if you require assistance, please contact the UBIT Help Center to request Cisco Jabber.

Recommendations

Compatible telephone headset and cable (check with your IT staff about purchasing)

Windows Requirements

Operating System

  • Microsoft Windows 10, 32 and 64 bit (Desktop Mode x86)
    • Jabber Supports the Current Branch (CB), Current Branch for Business (CBB), and Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB). With the LTSB, the maintainer needs to ensure any relevant service updates are deployed. 
  • Microsoft Windows 8.x, 32 and 64 bit (Desktop Mode)

Hardware

  • 2GB RAM or greater
  • 128MB free physical memory
  • 256MB free disk space
  • AMD Mobile Sempron Processor 3600+, Intel Atom, or Intel Core2 CPU T7400@2.16GHz or better.
  • Microsoft DirectX 11 Support 
  • USB 2.0 for accessory support

Software

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0 or later for Jabber clients prior to 12.6
    • Browser Click to Call is not supported in Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013, 32 or 64bit
  • Microsoft Office 2016 Desktop Version, 32 or 64 bit
  • Microsoft SharePoint 2010, 2013
  • Microsoft Office 365 using on-premise AD and the above Office versions
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010, 2013, and 2016, 32 and 64 bit

iOS Requirements

Cisco Jabber for iPhone and iPad support the following:

  • iOS 12 or later
  • watchOS 3, 4, or 5 and later.

Android Requirements

  • Android Operating System 4.4 or later
  • 1.5GHz dual core, 1.2GHz quad core, or higher (quad core recommended)
  • Display resolution of 480x800 or higher for two way video. For IM only, 320x480 or higher is required

Warning:

  • Cisco Jabber for Android is NOT supported on Android devices that are based on an Intel chipset
  • Cisco Jabber for Android does not support the Tegra 2 chipset
