BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field team will host its first home meet of the 2014 outdoor season when the Bulls compete in the UB Open on Friday, April 18 at UB Stadium. The Bulls will play host to cross-town rivals Canisius College and Niagara University along with numerous unattached runners.

The University at Buffalo women’s rowing team will host the ninth annual Nan Harvey Cup this Saturday morning on Tonawanda Creek. Once again, the Bulls will host Eastern Michigan in search of winning the Harvey Cup for the ninth straight year.

The UB baseball team's scheduled Tuesday doubleheader against Niagara has been cancelled. Poor weather in the forecast and already poor field conditions will again delay the team's true home opener. Next up for the Bulls will be a weekend series against MAC East rival Kent State, starting Friday at 6 pm.

University at Buffalo senior shortstop Sammi Gallardo has been named the MAC East Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday morning. The honor comes following a week that saw Gallardo hit six home runs in six games.

A full day of fun is planned for fans of UB football, as the team will host the 2014 Spring Game and Fan Fest on Saturday, April 19. The day will feature a clinic for kids, a chance to select your seat for a much-anticipated 2014 season and an autograph session before the team’s Spring Game.

Senior outfielder Matt Pollock was named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Player of the Week Monday morning, coming on the heels of leading the team to a three-game weekend sweep of Western Michigan. It's the team's second weekly conference honor of the 2014 season and it is Pollock's first player of the week recognition.

The University at Buffalo softball team found themselves coming back all afternoon long and a ninth inning walk-off home run from senior Heather Ryder turned out to be the deciding blow, giving the Bulls a 6-4 victory over Eastern Michigan, Sunday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.

The University at Buffalo women’s rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in New Jersey over the weekend. The event was highlighted by both the Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 4 boats reaching the Grand Final and the Novice 8 boat earning a silver medal.

Consistency was the operative word Sunday afternoon, as a consistent offense and another workman-like effort from senior pitcher Mike Burke­ led the Bulls to a weekend sweep of Western Michigan (13-18, 4-8 MAC). Matt Pollock continued his torrid month of April, reaching base four times and driving in three runs to lead Buffalo’s offense.

LEWISBURG, PA - The University at Buffalo track and field teams had a strong showing on the final day of the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls saw nine athletes take home first place finishes on day two of action.

The University at Buffalo softball team received another outstanding pitching performance from senior Tori Speckman and they hit three home runs as the Bulls shut out Eastern Michigan, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field. The win improved the Bulls to 19-17 and 3-2 in MAC play.

Not 24 passed since Kyle Figgins drew a 3-2 walk to bring in the winning run, Matt Pollock stepped into the role and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Bulls beat Western Michigan 5-4 to clinch the weekend Mid-American Conference series Saturday afternoon. Buffalo (15-12, 6-4 MAC) scored four unanswered runs in the final two innings for the win.

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon in its second to final regular season contest. The Bulls are now 13-5 on the year and 4-3 in MAC play.

LEWISBURG, PA - The University at Buffalo track and field teams wrapped up day one action at the Bison Open on Saturday afternoon with multiple first place finishers. The Bulls collected five first place finishes including four in field events.

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team began its regular-season concluding three-match road trip on a positive note Friday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Western Michigan, 5-2. UB was strong in singles play, winning all, but one match after dropping the doubles point.

The University at Buffalo softball team continued its 10-game home stand on Friday afternoon, splitting a pair of games with Central Michigan. The Bulls won the opener, 5-2, while falling in the second game, 5-1. UB is now 18-17 on the season and remains even in Mid-American Conference play at 2-2.

The Buffalo baseball team has done all it could to make a home away from home of Tribune Field at Monroe Community College down the road in Rochester. For the second time in the last three "home" games, the Bulls were able to erase a late lead and earned a walk-off win.

The University at Buffalo softball team played 31 straight games on the road, so nothing was going to stop them from getting their home opener in on Wednesday. Not a one-hour delay prior to game one and certainly not darkness in game two.

Junior Damien David of the men's tennis team was named the Mid-American Conference's Singles Player of the Week after leading the team to two 4-3 wins over the weekend. It is his first weekly honor of the season, but he becomes the third UB athlete honored as a singles player of the week and he earns the team's fourth weekly honor of the season.

BUFFALO, NY – After setting a personal best mark in the shot put on Saturday at the Florida Relays, senior Jonathan Jones has been named Mid-American Conference male Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Rising country star Frankie Ballard, singer of the number one hit song “Helluva Life,” will perform at the Tailgate Concert Series prior to the University at Buffalo football game against Akron on November 11.

Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Javon McCrea has been selected to participate in the 2014 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which will be played from April 16-19. The four-day, 12-game tournament played in Portsmouth, VA will be attended by representatives from every NBA team.
