Antivirus software updates itself with new information about security threats at regular intervals that you can schedule. Antivirus software is most effective if you regularly run active scans of your computer.

Find and contact the support staff for your unit, department or academic area for assistance.

Schedule Symantec EndPoint Protection to automatically scan your Macintosh computer and download new virus definitions on a regular basis.

1. Double-click the yellow shield in your system tray and select Change settings.
2. Select Configure Settings for Client Management.
3. Select the Scheduled Updates tab.
4. Choose the frequency and time for automatic updates.

1. Double-click the yellow shield in your system tray and select Scan for threats.
2. Click Create a New Scan.
3. Select the scan type.
4. Select All types to check all file types.
5. Select At specified times.
6. Choose the frequency of the scan.
7. Name your scheduled scan.

Schedule Symantec EndPoint Protection to automatically scan your Macintosh computer on a regular basis.

1. Click the black and gold Symantec EndPoint Protection icon in the Menu Bar at the top of the screen. Select Symantec EndPoint Protection > Open Symantec EndPoint Protection.
2. From the menu at the top, select Utilities > Symantec Scheduler.
   
3. Click New.
4. Select AntiVirus Scan.
5. Under Item to Scan, click Browse and select Macintosh HD. Click Select.
6. Select a frequency for your custom scan.
7. Select a day and time for your custom scan.
8. Click Save.
