If you recieve a letter from the Security Incident Response Team, a computer you own or use is identified as having a security issue. The nature of the issue is severe enough that we've asked you to remedy the issue before reconnecting the computer to the University network.
After the initial incident, you will receive a notification letter from the Security Incident Response Team. You will have 72 hours to respond and acknowledge the notification and fix the issue.
If you do not respond within 72 hours, you will lose your connection to the UB network (including Wi-Fi) until the problem is resolved.
After multiple incidents, you will receive a notification letter
and your computer will be immediately quarantined. You will then be
required to seek a professional repair service.
You can have your computer or related equipment repaired by VITEC Solutions’ Computer Repair & Maintenance Service Program, located on campus in Lockwood 2nd Floor Cybrary. You may also drop off your machine at their Amherst headquarters.
