Connect to UB's Network

Learn about the different ways to connect to the Internet at UB.

Connect on campus

Make sure to pick the right Wi-Fi network for your mobile device or laptop.

  • eduroam - The preferred secure Wi-Fi for UB students, faculty and staff, as well as visitors from participating schools. Use XpressConnect to configure your device from on or off campus, then automatically connect at UB.
  • UB Secure - Secure Wi-Fi for UB students, faculty and staff. 
  • UB Guest - for visitors and guests (requires an email address for registration). This network is not available in buildings with Wi-Fi Boost.
  • UB Connect - for visitors and guests (requires an email address for registration). Only available in buildings with Wi-Fi Boost.

Live at UB?

In addition to eduroam Wi-Fi, those living in UB's Residence Halls and apartments may also connect to:

  • ResNet and ResNet Boost- Use a cat 5, 5e, 6 or 6e Ethernet cable to plug in your computer and connect to this high speed network (requires device registration), which is 1,000x faster than Wi-Fi.
  • UB Gaming - Available only in ResNet areas. Used for gaming and media devices without browsers (requires device registration).
  • UB Connect - Available only in UB ResNet Boost areas, Used for gaming and media devices. (requires device registration)

Download and install Cisco AnyConnect ("virtual private network" software), and use your Internet Service Provider to connect to protected resources on the UB network, including:
