Getting Started at UB

freshmen at UB getting connected

New students at UB need to get ready before they come to UB and learn to connect once they arrive on campus.

You are a new student when you confirm your intent to attend UB and make a tuition payment.

Gaining Initial Access to Your UBITName

In order to gain access to your new UBITName account, which lets you use computer-related services at UB, you'll need these credentials issued to you by UB:

  • Your UBIT account name, i.e. your UBITName
  • Your UB Person Number
  • The single-use password

You receive these credentials in different ways depending on your status:

  • International student: from the International Student and Scholars Services during International Student Orientation after you arrive at UB
  • Undergraduate, non-International student: from Admissions after applying to UB
  • Graduate, non-International student: from your department after being accepted
  • Non-matriculated student: From the CIT Help Desk, Lockwood 2nd Floor Cybrary. Fax (716-645-3617) a scan of government issued photo ID along with a request for your account claim credentials.

Once you have gained access to the account, you set a password to access it in the future.
