Configure Your Android Device to Automatically Connect to UB Secure Wi-Fi

Configure your device to connect to UB Secure Wi-Fi. After configuring you will connect to the network automatically when you are on campus. Android 2.1 and higher is supported.

Configuring UB Secure Wi-Fi

UB Secure is the recommended access choice for connecting to UB's Wi-Fi campus network. Your UBITName and password and all data transmitted from your device to the wireless access point (the campus network) are encrypted.

  1. Determine your location:
    • On Campus: select either UB Wireless or UB Guest from your available Wi-Fi networks and, when your Web browser opens and the splash screen appears, click the UB Secure WiFiSetup button.
    • Off Campus: open a Web browser and go to http://ubwifisetup.buffalo.edu.
  2. On the configuration, page accept the End-User License Agreement and click Start.
  3. If you do not have the XpressConnect App installed, you will be asked to download it from Google Play or via direct download.
  4. Once the application has downloaded, open the file and select Install.
  5. After the XpressConnect has installed select Open. The configuration will launch.
  6. Enter your UBITName and Password.
  7. You may be asked to create a password in order to save your credentials. This is not the same as your UBITName Password:
    • If you are using Androiod 4.2 or older, create a password that is different from your UBIT password.
    • If you are using Android 4.3, leave the password blank. Instead, set a PIN to configure credential storage. This will require you to enter a password for the device/slide lock.
  8. You will see a screen indicating that your device is configured to use the network. Select Done to close the application.
  9. Whenever you are on campus with your device, it will automatically connect to UB Secure Wi-Fi.
