Configure Your Android Device to Automatically Connect to UB Secure Wi-Fi

Configure your device for UB Secure Wi-Fi. After configuring, your device will connect to the network automatically when it is on campus. Android 2.1 and higher is supported.

Instructions may vary depending on version of Android.

UB Secure is the recommended access choice for connecting to UB's Wi-Fi campus network. Unlike UB Wireless or UB Guest, UB Secure encrypts your UBITName, password and all data transmission.

Configuring UB Secure Wi-Fi

  1. Determine your location:
    • On Campus: select either UB Wireless or UB Connect from your available Wi-Fi networks and, when your Web browser opens, go to a non-UB page, such as The splash screen will appear, click the UB Secure WiFiSetup button.
    • Off Campus: open a Web browser and go to
  2. On the configuration, page accept the End-User License Agreement and click Start.
  3. If you do not have the XpressConnect App installed, you will be asked to download it from Google Play or via direct download.
  4. Once the application has downloaded, open the file and select Install.
  5. After the XpressConnect has installed select Open. The configuration will launch.
  6. Enter your UBITName and Password.
  7. You may be asked to create a password in order to save your credentials. This is not the same as your UBITName Password:
    • If you are using Android 4.2 or older, create a password that is different from your UBIT password.
    • If you are using Android 4.3, leave the password blank. Instead, set a PIN to configure credential storage. This will require you to enter a password for the device/slide lock.
  8. You will see a screen indicating that your device is configured to use the network. Select Done to close the application.

Connecting with UB Secure

Now that you've configured your device, when on campus your device will automatically connect to UB Secure Wi-Fi.
