Configuring Android for eduroam

There is no configuration assistance tool for Android. You must manually configure your device using the directions below.

Using Windows 8/8.1, 7, Vista, Macintosh 10.7-10.9, Linux or iOS?

Use the Configuration Assistant Tool instead.

UB Faculty, Staff and Students: Configuring Your Android Devices

You must manually configure Android devices and then can connect to eduroam from other schools.

If you are visiting UB, you should not follow these directions to configure eduroam. Use directions and downloads offered by your home institution.

Settings

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap Wi-Fi. Tap eduroam.

3. Fill in the following:

  • For EAP method, select PEAP.
  • Tap Phase 2 authentication. Select MSCHAPV2.
  • Leave the Certificate field as Unspecified.
  • In the Identity field, enter your UBITName followed immediately by @ad.buffalo.edu. (NOT buffalo.edu)
  • Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank.
  • In the Password field, enter your UBIT password.

4. Tap Connect.

5. Accept any buffalo.edu certificates.

6. You're all configured. When you go to the participating institution, select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks to connect.
