Accessing UBfs Using a Mapped Drive from Windows

You can map a drive to UBfs on your computer that you can use to easily access your Myfiles space if you are connecting using UB Secure Wi-Fi or from off campus.

If you are connecting from off-campus, use the off-campus VPN client AnyConnect before accessing UBfs.

Mapping a Drive to UBfs

  1. Depending on your computer's operating system:
    • Windows 7: Click Start > Computer. Select Map Network Drive at the top of the window.
    • Windows Vista: Click Start > Computer. Select Map Network Drive from the Tools menu.
    • Windows XP: Click Start >  My Computer. Select Map Network Drive from the Tools menu.
  2. Use the drive letter pre-selected or choose an unmapped drive letter.
  3. Enter the UBfs folder for your Myfiles space:
    \\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\1st_letter_ubitname\2nd_letter_ubitname\UBITName
(where UBITName is your UBITName). For example, if your UBITName is jdoe, you would enter:
    \\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\j\d\jdoe.
  4. When prompted for a username, enter ad\ followed by your UBITName, e.g., ad\jdoe.

To map a drive to Collab space instead, follow the directions above but in step 3 map to:
\\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\collab.
