Learn how to set up Thunderbird email client for your Linux operating system.

Thunderbird Email Client

Before using Thunderbird:

If you do not already have it, download Thunderbird.

To configure Thunderbird:

  1. Select Edit > Account Settings.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter Description SMTP.
  4. Enter Server Name smtp.buffalo.edu.
  5. Enter Port 465.
  6. Enter Connection security SSL/TLS.
  7. Enter Authentication method Normal Password.
  8. Enter your UBITName for User Name.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Select Account Actions.
  12. Enter your name.
  13. Enter email address.
  14. Enter your UBIT Password.
  15. Uncheck Remember password.
  16. Click Continue.
  17. Select IMAP (remote folders).
  18. Click Create Account.
  19. Click OK.
