Configuring eduroam Manually with Chromebook

Operating System: Chrome OS

Applies To: UB students, faculty, staff, researchers

Last Updated: April 12. 2017

In order to connect your Chromebook to UB Secure, you must configure it properly.

Important:

Chromebooks are designed for home use, not institutional use. Use at UB has been inconsistent, with reports of dropped or weak connections due to suspected firmware issues. UB does not recommend using Chromebooks on campus, and Chromebooks do not meet UB's student hardware standards.

Configuring Chromebook

  1. Click on your Chromebook's Wi-Fi and select eduroam.
  2. Choose the following settings:
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: Automatic
    • Server CA certificate: Default
    • User certificate: none installed
    • Identity: Enter your UBITName immediately followed by @buffalo.edu
    • Password: Enter your UBITName password
    • Anonymous identity: leave blank
  3. Click Connect.

Use eduroam at UB and When You Travel

Once you set up eduroam Wi-Fi, you're automatically able to use it at hundreds of universities and colleges around the world, in addition to UB.  No extra steps required.
