Turn Reminder Sounds On or Off

Sound effects can increase your productivity in Outlook Calendar by notifying you of upcoming appointments or meetings.

To enable or disable reminder sounds:

Microsoft Outlook 2007
1. Select Tools > Options.
2. Select Other tab > Advanced Options.
3. Click Reminder Options.
  - Select Play reminder sound to hear the reminder sound when a reminder comes due.
  - Deselect Play reminder sound to prevent the reminder sound from playing when a reminder comes due.
4. Click OK.
5. Ensure that the volume of your speakers is set to an audible level.
Microsoft Outlook 2010
1. Select File tab > Options.
2. Click Advanced.
  - Select Play reminder sound to hear the reminder sound when a reminder comes due.
  - Deselect Play reminder sound to prevent the reminder sound from playing when a reminder comes due.
3. Click OK.
4. Ensure that the volume of your speakers is set to an audible level.
Microsoft Outlook 2011
1. Select Outlook menu > Preferences.
2. Click Notifications & Sounds
3. Select Default for Sound set
  - Select Reminder to enable the default reminder sound
  - Deselect Reminder to disable the default reminder sound
Outlook Web Access (OWA)
- It is not possible to adjust reminder sounds in OWA.
- Log into Outlook on your UB-owned computer to enable or disable reminder sounds.
