Students: Your UBIT Services Are Changing

See how changes to your official affiliation, such as graduation, leave of absence or not enrolling for a semester, affect the UBIT services you can access.

New Alumni: When You First Graduate

  • You retain access to some UBIT services for six months following your degree conferral date, including UBlearns, My Virtual Computing Lab, software downloads, your UB website and UBfs .
  • Former students enrolled spring 2011 and after retain access to HUB and MyUB indefinitely.
  • Your UBmail remains active, but you must log into it at least once every 90 days.

What you need to do:

  • Log into your UBmail at least once every 90 days to keep it active (even if you forward your UBmail to another email).
    • Didn't log in for 60 days? You'll receive a notice in emaill.
    • Didn't log in for 2 more weeks? You'll receive another notice.
    • Didn't log in for 90 days? Your UBmail Powered by Google will deactivate. Opt-in to reactivate it.
  • Save your files from UBfs and your UB website to non-UB storage during these six months.

Not Enrolled at UB for Fall or Spring Semesters

If you are not enrolled for the fall or spring semester you are not officially affiliated with UB.

  • You will lose access to UBIT services such as UBmail, UBfs, your UB website, UB software downloads, My Virtual Computing Lab and UBlearns.
  • Former students enrolled spring 2011 and after retain access to HUB and MyUB indefinitely.

What you need to do:

  • To avoid losing important information, save your UB email messages, files from UBlearns, UBfs and your website before the end of the drop/add period.
  • Update contacts that may be sending email to your UB email address that your access to UB email is going away. Offer a non-UB address for them to contact you. Once you leave, email messages sent to your UB email address will be returned to the sender undelivered.

Granted an Official Leave of Absence

  • If you are granted an official leave of absence you retain access to UBIT services for the length of your leave. You are all set.
  • If you are not on an official leave of absence you do not have an official affiliation with the university. For more information, see Not Enrolled at UB for Fall or Spring Semesters.

What you need to do:

If you do not have an official leave of absence, to begin the official leave of absence process:
