A change in your affiliation with UB can mean that you no longer have access to the same services as you previously did. This may be due to retirement, graduation, not enrolling in courses, or lapses in appointment paperwork.  For more information, see Your Relationship to UB is Changing.

If you are not enrolled but are on an official Leave of Absence or are finishing a grade of Incomplete, you are eligible to continue to have access to your UBIT account. Students on official Leaves of Absence, once their leaves are processed by the Office of the Registrar, automatically retain access. Students working on an Incomplete must make arrangements to extend their account.

Your UBIT account remains active for the summer if you were enrolled at UB for the spring semester.

If you have saved answers you can reset your password yourself. If you do not have saved answers or cannot answer your questions correctly, the CIT Help Desk can set your UBITName to an unclaimed state and provide you with a single-use password to once again claim your UBITName.

Your name associated with your UBIT account is based on institutional data on record with the Office of the Registrar (students) and UB Human Resources (faculty, staff and official volunteers).  It can be changed only if you submit a legal name change to the appropriate office for your status.

The name that appears in the Online Directory and is associated with your UBITName must be your name as it appears in your official University records. Requests for name changes are processed through the appropriate University at Buffalo administrative office.

Once your name change is official with the Office of the Registrar (Students) or Human Resources (Faculty and Staff), you may request a new UBITName.
