Managing Your Account for Conducting University Business

You can change your administrative account’s password. You must renew it periodically in order for it to remain active.

If you remember your password and want to change it, you can change your password online. Your password must be secure; insecure passwords will be rejected.

Your password must:

  • be different from your last 3 passwords
  • be between 8 and 32 characters in length
  • contain at least 1 capital letter
  • contain at least 1 lowercase letter
  • contain at least 1 number
  • not have more than 4 numbers in sequence
  • contain at least 1 of the following characters:
    • ~!@#$%^&*()_+=-`{}[]|";'<>,.?/
  • not contain the following characters:
    • :\

Changing Your Password

  1. Go to the UB Account Management Tool.
  2. Enter your UBITName and current password.
  3. Click Login.
  4. Select Change My Password.
  5. Enter your new password in both the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  6. Click Change Password.

Resetting Your Password When You Forget It

If you forget your password and you created a set of answers to questions, you can reset your password yourself:

  1. Go to the UB Account Management Tool.
  2. Enter your UBITName.
  3. Click Forgot Your Password.
  4. Answer at least 4 of the questions you previously answered; If they match, you will be brought to the Change Password page.
  5. Enter your new password in both the Password and the Confirm Password fields.
  6. Click Change Password.

If you do not have saved answers or cannot answer your questions correctly, and you are the owner of record for the account, send email to the CIT Help Desk can set your UBITName to an unclaimed state and provide you with a single-use password.

Renewing Your Account

Administrative Accounts are created or renewed for 2, 6 or 12 months. As the expiration date for your administrative account approaches, a notice will be sent to the account and can serve as a reminder for the account owner to request renewal. Send email to the CIT Help Desk to renew your administrative account.
