Upgrade your UB Phones for Less through January 15, 2016

Published December 16, 2015

UB Information Technology is partnering with Cisco to offer a trade-in program for all UB phone models, regardless of age or condition. They can be exchanged for an equivalent, newer model phone at a reduced cost, which will be billed to your department account number. The cost includes both delivery and set-up.

As UBIT continues to launch new UB phone system features, older phone models (7940 and 7960G) often may not have the same capabilities. All UB phone models will still be able to make calls, transfer calls, and be put on hold, but new features like Single Number Reach (SNR), Presence and the international public telecommunications numbering plan (Standard E.164) will not be available.

Here is a quick comparison of the latest available UB phone models:

*The 8800 series has a limit of five programmable keys, which can be used for extensions.

There is no license charge for the new devices, so costs are estimated to be as follows:

  • 8811 NYS Contract price = $302.60 / Cost after trade-in discount = $222.50
  • 8841 NYS Contract price = $336.60 / Cost after trade-in discount  = $256.50
  • 8851 NYS Contract price = $404.60 / Cost after trade-in discount = $289.00

The discounted prices have been estimated based on the number of old devices exchanged via the trade-in program. The more phones we trade in, the greater the discount from Cisco, so we are extending this offer to the entire campus community.

This offer is only valid for a limited time, so please email Tom Jauch by January 15, 2016 and refer to project #74808 if you are interested.
