On April 14, 2015, Microsoft re-branded “Lync” as “Skype for Business.” Find out what it means for UB.
UB’s Virtual Conferencing tool, Microsoft Lync, allows faculty, staff and students to initiate and conduct audio and video calls, hold online meetings and share their desktop.
Beginning Fall 2014, new model VoIP phones are available for UB departments by request from UBIT.
Recently, a group of UBIT student assistants began working on a database to trace and catalog hundreds of analog phone lines across UB’s campuses. Their work resulted in the discovery and removal of over 250 unused lines, which wouldn't make sense for the university to keep active.
Need to meet with someone across the country, or even the world? Save yourself the money and hassle of traveling. UB offers students, faculty and staff convenient virtual conferencing through Microsoft Lync.
As of August 12, 2014, WebEx has been replaced by Microsoft Lync as the standard Web audio/video conferencing tool offered to all UB faculty, staff and students.
