WebEx Discontinued, Use Lync for Conferencing

As of August 12, 2014, WebEx has been replaced by Microsoft Lync as the standard Web audio/video conferencing tool offered to all UB faculty, staff and students.

An Expanded Feature Set

The change to Lync offers the UB community several unique, helpful features that WebEx does not, including:

  • Participants may call into a meeting from a phone
  • People in your contact list are "Available" or "Away" ( a feature known as "Presence"
  • Students can use Lync to host their own meetings and study groups, and can connect with their instructors 

Lync Supported Devices

Lync works with Windows and Mac computers and with most popular tablets and smartphones.

Download Microsoft Lync from the UBIT website at www.buffalo.edu/ubit/lync. You can also find detailed instructions for initiating and joining meetings.
