IT at UB Has a New Website

Information Technology has released a new website to serve the IT needs of the UB community. The website incorporates content from several IT websites for easier customer navigation and staff maintenance.

The old websites have been left in place with "We've Moved" notices that help customers find the new location. The old websites will not be kept up-to-date, however, so there is some urgency to find the new site.

The old websites are no longer being searched by UB's Google search engine and the search functions on sites now search only the new site.

New Website Features

These new websites leverage the power of UB's content management system, UBCMS, to make it easier to focus on best practices for communication and new content development.

New features include:

Dashboard view of UBIT’s critical service statuses, based on UBIT Alerts
IT tips tailored for students, faculty and staff
Targeted, section-wide search engines can be easily added. For example, on the UBIT website, there is a search engine that only searches within IT Policy descriptions.
Hosting sites in the UBCMS reduces the frequency of broken links. If the location of a webpage within the site changes, the system will automatically update all links pointing to it.
