A default setting may be causing you to see an error when logging into Panopto that says “You may be seeing this page because you used the back button while browsing a secure site or application.”

Who is affected?

Students and faculty logging into UB Learns and watching Panopto recordings in web browsers are being asked to log in again and seeing the “you used the back button” error because their browsers disable third-party cookies or limit cross-site tracking. Some browsers make this the default setting when they are installed, or every time they are updated.

How do I fix this problem?

To view Panopto recordings in UB Learns, you may need to enable third-party cookies. The Panopto website has instructions for enabling cookies in all major browsers.
