All students, faculty and staff have access to their own private online meeting space with Webex, and everyone can use its features for easy collaboration. During February 2019, UBIT is partnering with University Libraries to offer workshops to learn how Webex can work for you.
Collaborating with Webex for Faculty, Staff and Students is for anyone at UB interested in learning how Webex can work for you. Join UBIT on February 27th at 3:30-5 p.m. in Capen/Silverman 310 on North Campus.
Students can use Webex to stay in touch with classmates and instructors from anywhere. Webex has features that aren’t available in Skype or Hangouts, like easy polling and meeting recording.
Webex also comes with Webex Teams, a desktop and mobile app that combines the power of Webex audio and video meetings with group chat and file sharing to help you keep everything for group projects in one place.
Instructors will find that Webex is tailor-made for office hours. Everybody at UB has their own personal meeting room, and can start meetings there with the click of a button.
To invite students to your Webex personal meeting room for office hours, just share your room’s URL—‘ub.webex.com/meet/’ followed by your UBITName. Include that URL in your syllabus, along with your office hours schedule, and students can easily meet with you from anywhere.
Employees at UB use Webex to facilitate meetings with colleagues on and off UB’s campuses. Use Webex Meetings to send files to colleagues, give presentations and share what’s on your screen. Because Webex is available for desktop or mobile, colleagues can tune in anywhere there’s an internet connection.
Webex also helps simplify the process of training and onboarding new staff and student assistants. Webex Trainings is a specialized meeting format meant to facilitate group training, with question and answer functionality, breakout sessions and hands-on labs.
For help using or getting started with Webex, you can also contact the UBIT Help Center, online at buffalo.edu/ubit/help, by phone at 716-645-3542 or at one of our walk-in locations on North or South Campus.
