Daniel Heuskin (UB Student, Class of 2017) is originally from Long Island, NY. He is studying English at UB with aspirations to become a teacher or writer. In his free time, he enjoys playing bass guitar, doing nature photography, writing songs and reading.

During move-in on August 25 and 26, 2016, the UBIT Help Center will be available in the Ellicott Complex, Governors and South Campus to offer assistance as students set-up their devices.

Knowledgeable IT staff will be ready to help incoming students with the move-in process by answering questions, solving tech problems and providing helpful information on services such as software, unlimited, secure file storage through UBbox and getting connected to the Internet. In addition, free earbuds, microfiber cleaning cloths (perfect for device screens and eyeglasses!), USB sticks and pens will be available.

On North Campus, there will be a tent outside of Spaulding Quad in the Ellicott Complex and a help site inside Governors’ Lehman Hall. On South Campus, the UBIT Help Center will have a tent directly across from Goodyear Hall.

Teams of UBIT Help Center staff will also be roaming residence halls throughout move-in to assist students with their technology needs. Staff are available to troubleshoot problems with connecting smartphones, TVs and gaming consoles in addition to computers and tablets. If you see a Help Center crew in green t-shirts passing by, don’t hesitate to stop them and ask for help.

On Friday, August 26, UBIT will participate in the University Resource Fair in the Student Union from 1:30 and 3:30 pm. Students are invited to stop by and ask technology or IT-related questions.

If you miss our tents, roving teams, and resource fair table, don’t worry! Calls to (716) 645-3542 and walk-in are welcome at the UBIT Help Center in the Lockwood 2nd Floor Cybrary (North Campus) and Abbott 1st Floor Health Sciences Library (South Campus) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday starting August 20. Our Lockwood location is also open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As fall semester kicks into gear, UBIT is preparing for the launch of the UB Tech Squad. Students will soon be able schedule hands-on assistance that comes directly to residence halls or on-campus apartments. Stay tuned to the UBIT website for updates.

Information Technology should be helpful, not problematic—especially during your busy transition to life on campus. We wish you the best of luck this academic year and please don’t hesitate to call, stop by or submit a ticket online if you have questions.
