If you teach with technology, or use it in any facet of your work at UB—and who doesn’t?—changes are coming to make your IT help experience faster and more efficient.
A revamped UBIT Help Center in Lockwood’s 2nd floor cybrary will now feature two major improvements for faculty and staff: a new team of full-time IT staff, and a redesigned call menu that connects them with immediate and specialized help.
Starting December 14, 2015, callers to 645-3542 in need of assistance with classroom technology will be connected directly to full-time staff. Callers will be quickly assisted over the phone or a specialized team member will be dispatched to the classroom if needed.
Faculty and staff can also self-identify using the call menu to get specialized support for any non-classroom-related tech issues as well.
"In order to best serve our different UB customers, we had to change the way we think," said Chris Clune, Director of IT Customer Service, part of UB Information Technology. "These changes reflect a better, tailored support experience for our wide range of customers."
If you’re a UBIT staff member, you can now call 645-3542 and select an option to bypass the IT help for students, faculty and staff, and get directed to someone who understands that you’re an IT professional. It’s just another way to provide IT help that makes sense for everyone at UB.
In addition to calling 645-3542, the UBIT Help Center online is another new, convenient way to get IT help and ensure your concern is directed to the right professional. It allows you to notify us of a problem, request a service from us and track our progress 24 hours a day.
