UB Login Phish - Do not click 'FW: Case ID UTF43CTML' email 05-23-18

IT Security Alert

An email supposedly from the "Information Service Help Desk" tells you that you supposedly submitted a change of name and asks you to click a link to request to cancel the request if you did not.  The link "HERE" to cancel your request attempts to steal your UBIT name and password.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

Phishing email

  1. Spelling and grammar issues
  2. Hovering over URL shows it is not a buffalo.edu site.

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the links. What should I do?

Delete the email.
