UB Login Phish - Do not click "University at Buffalo service desk"

IT Security Alert

An email coming from "Vicki Wood" claims that your account is on a deactivation list and you must login to cancel the deactivation.  The link that you are supposed to click on to retrieve this message attempts to steal your UBIT credentials.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

  1. Notice the email "From" address is not a buffalo.edu address
  2. Hovering over URL shows it is not a buffalo.edu site
  3. Odd phrasing/grammar.

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the links. What should I do?

Delete the email.
