UB Login Phish - Do not click 'You have a Faculty E-learning message from your department' email 03-10-20

IT Security Alert.

An email supposedly from "University at Buffalo" claims to have a link to a Faculty E-learning message.  The link in the body of the message takes you to what appears to be a UB login page.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

Phishing email.

  1. There is no soft@buffalo.edu account at UB for any departments.
  2. Hovering over URL shows it is not a buffalo.edu site.
  3. There is no signature or other indications that this is an official communication from UB.

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the links. What should I do?

Delete the email.
