Outlook Web Access Phish - Do not click 'IMPORTANT: Email Alert From University at Buffalo ' email 02-01-21

IT Security Alert.

An email supposedly from "University at Buffalo" claims that you have a new message in the employee portal and asks you to click a link to read it.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

  1. The address is not a UB email address.
  2. The domain of the URL is not buffalo.edu.  The words "exchowa.buffalo.edu" show up at the very end, not the beginning (.e.g http://www.buffalo.edu/ubit.html)

I already clicked the link. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the attachment. What should I do?

Delete the email.
