UB Account Phish 9-5-2014

An email stating a database upgrade has resulted in unclaimed emails being in your account is attempting to trick you into disclosing your UB credentials.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

  1. Email comes from "Email Support." UBIT only communicates to users via official channels and not individual service teams.
  2. Links in message go to a non buffalo.edu address. "Hovering" on the link shows it to be a non-buffalo.edu website.
  3. Unusual grammar (pluralization). European spelling of words.

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

If you have any questions, contact your local IT support or the CIT Help Desk.
