Business Continuity is not something implemented at the time of a disaster; it refers to those activities performed daily to maintain service, consistency and recoverability.
Business continuity consists of policies, guidelines, standards and procedures implemented by an organization. All system design, implementation, and support must be based on this foundation. Business continuity is sometimes confused with disaster recovery, but they are separate; disaster recovery is actually a small subset of business continuity.
Business continuity planning involves identifying the methodology followed daily by everyone in an organization to ensure normal operations.
