UBIT Customer Services Student Assistant

UBIT is seeking a Customer Services Student Assistant for general computer setup and support. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience with a technically advanced group involved in a wide variety of challenging software and hardware projects.

Duties may include:

  • Provide workstation and some networking support to approximately 1,500 end-users
  • Troubleshoot end-user problems
  • Install and maintain a wide variety of software and hardware on the desktop
  • Provide one-on-one end-user training in the use of applications and operating systems as needed
  • Generate support documentation for installation and maintenance activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone and problem solving skills
  • Work very well independently and in a team environment
  • Configure, deploy and support the following operating systems:
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Mac OS X
    • Unix experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, different browsers, Symantec, printers, TCP/IP, FTP and Networking
  • Undergraduate status required (Freshman or Sophomore perferred)

Additional Information:

Student Assistant working hours are 20 hours per week during the fall/spring semester; 20-29 hours per week during breaks and up to 29 hours per week during the summer.

Compensation: Starting salary negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications.
