Network and Classroom Services

Where did you start your professional career?
I started my professional career here at UB with Telecommunication Services as a graduate student and I never left.
What brought you to UB?
After earning a BS in Microelectronic Engineering at RIT, I decided to change directions and pursue a MBA as a full-time graduate student. UB was my preferred choice since it is my hometown university.
What are your current duties?
I am currently the Design and Installation Service Manager for UBIT Network & Classroom Services. It’s part of my job to make sure that the services we deliver are meeting the needs of the UB community.
How do you help protect UB students, faculty and staff from identity theft, viruses, and other computing risks?
My department offers network security services which are designed to minimize computing risks.
How do you lead?
In addition to setting direction, I believe in empowering people and unlocking their potential. I don’t attempt to micro-manage but I do try to facilitate good outcomes.
What is rewarding about your job?
One of the perks of working at a university is having ready access to resources and expertise across a variety of disciplines. My encounters with UB life outside of IT has enriched my experience.
How has your job allowed you grow as a professional and/or as an individual?
While at UB, I have been fortunate to serve in different management capacities. With each position change, I have assumed new responsibilities, encountered new challenges, and formed new relationships that have contributed to my professional growth.
What do you hope for your future here at UB?

I am continuously searching for the right opportunity to make a greater impact to UB. Who knows what the future may bring?
Is there anything else that you would like to share about your unique experience in IT at UB?

Work at UB has brought my husband and I together. I am blessed by our shared experiences.
