UBIT Communication Student Assistant

Information Technology Policy and Communication (ITPC) is a small team of communicators responsible for promoting UB’s information technology services to the UB community.  Our office is located in the Ellicott Complex on North Campus. We're looking for a part-time student assistant.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft marketing campaign copy, technical Web page content and fact sheets, presentations and survey reports.
  • Participate in promotional/educational video shoots, i.e. writing scripts and other production tasks.
  • Interview UBIT staff members for news and feature articles.
  • Post content to UBIT website using UBCMS (UB’s Content Management System).
  • Update staff lists and other documents as assigned; generate reports from survey data.
  • Write posts promoting UB Information Technology (UBIT) services for inclusion on UB social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
  • Assist in creating illustrative tables, charts and images using common tools, including Microsoft Excel.   
  • Assist in researching and acquiring images for Web, social media or print use.
  • Assist with administrative duties including copying, scanning, mailings, supply inventory and ordering, and general organization.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Is a UB student with at least three semesters left at the university.
  • Is available to start by March 2015 and work throughout Summer 2015- flexible scheduling offered.
  • Has strong writing skills. Previous news/feature writing experience a plus.
  • Is a strong communicator and able to work well with a team.
  • Must be highly organized and work within firm deadlines.
  • Is comfortable using Web, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • May have basic HTML knowledge and Adobe Photoshop experience (not required).
  • May have video editing and e-learning (Adobe Captivate) experience (not required).
