UBIT Web Application Development Assistant

Information Technology Policy and Communication (ITPC) is a small team of communicators and Web programmers responsible for promoting UB’s information technology services to the UB community.  Our office is located in the Ellicott Complex on North Campus.


  • Maintaining and improving the UBIT website using UB’s Content Management System.
  • Developing Web applications and updating legacy applications using the programming languages identified below.

The successful applicant:

  • Is a UB student with at least three semesters left at the university.
  • Is available immediately- flexible scheduling offered.
  • Is able to work between 10-15 hours a week.
  • Does not have a current graduate assistant appointment.
  • Must be a self-starter and problem solver who can research, propose and implement solutions.
  • Must have experience writing technical documentation.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to write JavaScript fluently.
  • Must be conversant with PHP and CSS.
  • Must know how to develop using relational databases (i.e. MySQL).
  • Must be able to write secure Web applications.
  • Must be comfortable manipulating tab and comma separated values files.

Additional recommended skills:

  • Familiarity with social media Open Graph application development
  • Mobile web optimization experience
  • UX design
