Provide general computer setup and support. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience with a technically advanced group involved in a wide variety of challenging software and hardware projects.

Title: Student Assistant

Student Assistant working hours are 20 hours per week during the fall/spring semester; 30-40 hours per week during breaks and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

Duties may include:

Answering Helpdesk Telephone Calls
Providing workstation and some networking support to approximately 1500 end-users
Troubleshooting end-user problems
Installing and maintaining a wide variety of software and hardware on the desktop
Providing one-on-one end-user training in the use of applications and operating systems as needed
Generating support documentation for installation and maintenance activities

Minimum Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent telephone and problem solving skills
Work very well independently and in a team environment
Configure, deploy and support Microsoft Windows XP/Windows 7 (MAC and UNIX experience a plus)
A familiarity with Microsoft Office, TCP/IP, Networking, Internet Explorer, Firefox, FTP, Printers and Symantec is preferred
Undergraduate status required (Freshman or Sophomore preferred)

Compensation

Starting payrate is negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications.
