Jeff Fineberg, Database Analyst, Enterprise Application
Services
Jeff Fineberg has always respected and admired UB, earning undergraduate degrees here in Music and Media Studies, and a Masters in Computer Science. In 1996, he joined Enterprise Application Services (EAS), a unit responsible for developing and maintaining services like MyUB and HUB.
As a Database Analyst/Administrator, Jeff is responsible for
performing database maintenance activities on a variety of
platforms, including Datacom, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and
MySQL.
Working on projects to implement new systems as well as existing
applications ensures that Jeff keeps his skills current. He feels
that the diverse systems he encounters on a daily basis make his
job rewarding. Troubleshooting UB systems and resolving problems is
also an interesting challenge for him.
Jeff also teaches at UB, most recently a database course for the School of Management. He has previously taught computer programming, database management systems, and systems analysis for UB’s Millard Fillmore College (MFC) and former School of Informatics, in addition to Bryant and Stratton College. Being both a practitioner and educator, Jeff needs to always stay informed with the latest technology.
Prior to his career with UB, Jeff worked with Northeast Machine in computer operations and inventory control, later moving on to Copeland Data Systems as a software developer.
Away from UB, Jeff enjoys playing piano and synthesizers, and
often experiments with computer-based music. He likes the
challenges of pulling technologies together as part of the music
composition process.
