Daniel E. Ovadia

Mr. Daniel Ovadia is a senior undergraduate student concentrating in financial analysis in UB’s School of Management. In April 2012, Mr. Ovadia was elected by the university’s student body to serve as the student representative to the UB Council for the 2012-2013 academic year. As the student representative on the UB Council, Mr. Ovadia looks forward to working with the various stakeholders to promote communication, collaboration and the positive growth of the university.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Mr. Ovadia began his freshman year as a participant in the Undergraduate Academies Living & Learning Community, where he continues to serve as an active member of the Civic Engagement Academy. During the spring semester of his freshman year, Mr. Ovadia took part in the leadership office’s Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Buffalo, a program held over spring recess which allows students to familiarize themselves with the region through participation in daily service projects.

As a sophomore, Mr. Ovadia sought to combine his experiences interacting with UB students and members of the local community through the role of Student Association Community Service Coordinator. In this position, Mr. Ovadia brought together members of local neighborhood block clubs, various nonprofit organization and hundreds of students for two large scale cleanup efforts of the University Heights neighborhood. During both his sophomore and junior years, Mr. Ovadia served as a resident advisor (RA) in the Wilkeson Quad and as a member of the Student Programming Board. Additionally, Mr. Ovadia was elected to the Undergraduate Student Association Senate for the 2011-2012 academic year.

In 2012, Mr. Ovadia was recognized for his commitment to the Western New York region as a recipient of the Prentice Family Foundation’s Western New York Prosperity Scholarship. For the internship component of the scholarship, Mr. Ovadia will be working with local nonprofit, Buffalo CarShare on its new BikeShare initiative.

Mr. Ovadia maintains an active interest in the financial markets and is pleased to serve the Chief Public Relations Officer for the School of Management’s Terese Kelly Investment Group for the 2012-2013 academic year. Following graduation, Mr. Ovadia plans to enroll in a combined J.D./M.B.A program.
