John J. MartinMr. John J. Martin Jr. is an undergraduate accounting major in his senior year in UB's School of Management. In April 2009, Mr. Martin was elected by UB’s undergraduate and graduate student body to be the student representative to the University at Buffalo Council for the 2009-2010 year. Following graduation, Mr. Martin intends to pursue a career in entertainment law. Mr. Martin has been involved with UB’s Undergraduate Student Association since his freshman year, beginning with his participation on the university’s Alpine Race Team. In 2006, he was appointed assistant bookkeeper of the Student Association. After serving as assistant bookkeeper for one year, Mr. Martin was elected by the undergraduate student body to serve as treasurer of the Undergraduate Student Association for the 2007-2008 year, and reelected for 2008-2009. As treasurer, Mr. Martin chaired the Student Association's finance committee, and was responsible for budgeting and distributing over $6 million in student funds. He also served as a liaison for his student constituents, representing their issues and concerns with both UB's administration and other student groups. In addition, Mr. Martin has served on the boards of Sub-Board I, Inc. and UB’s student newspaper, The Spectrum. Mr. Martin is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, an on-campus social fraternity at UB. In his spare time, he enjoys serving the community alongside his fraternity brothers. Mr. Martin currently resides in Williamsville. His parents, John and Mary Ann, live in Johnson City, New York, where he grew up. Mr. Martin's older sister, Ann, a UB graduate, is now pursuing a Ph.D. at Cornell University in Ithaca. |
