Mark J. Czarnecki
Mr. Mark J. Czarnecki was appointed to the UB Council on December 7, 2004, and serves as vice chairman of the Council. Mr. Czarnecki is president of M&T Bank Corporation and its primary subsidiary M&T Bank. He has overall responsibility for Retail Banking, Business Banking, Consumer Lending, the Investment and Mortgage businesses and all staff functions including technology, operations, human resources and finance. He serves as a member of the board of directors of M&T and M&T Bank and M&Tís Management Group.
Czarnecki began his career with M&T Bank in 1977 and held numerous managerial positions in Retail Banking, Business Banking and Commercial Lending. He joined the M&T Investment Group in 1994, and in 1995, was named president of M&T Securities, the bankís broker/dealer. In 1997, Czarnecki was appointed executive vice president overseeing the entire Investment Group. His responsibilities were expanded in 2003 to include oversight of M&Tís Retail Business line.
Czarnecki holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned his Masterís of Business Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York.
He serves as chairman of the board of trustees of M&T Bankís partner school, Westminster Community Charter School. He is the past chairman of the Buffalo Zoological Society and continues to serve on their board. In addition, Czarnecki is a Director of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Chairman of the New York Bankers Association.
