June W. Hoeflich was appointed to the UB Council by Governor David Paterson on September 10, 2008. A graduate of Erie Community College and the University at Buffalo, Ms. Hoeflich also earned a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Canisius College. She also completed advanced studies in finance, management, leadership and strategic planning. Ms. Hoeflich is a certified instructor in Leadership and Group Membership Development, and is a program facilitator for The Risk Management Association, an international banking organization.
Ms. Hoeflich enjoyed a long and successful career in banking as a senior vice president and credit audit manager for Group Audit USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Bank USA. In this position she oversaw an independent management function that provided internal credit auditing to HSBC Bank’s Company and Group functions in the U.S. and surrounding geographic locations. Prior to this position, Ms. Hoeflich served as a commercial executive for HSBC Business Credit (USA) Inc., and as vice president and manager of the bank’s Commercial Loan Underwriting Department.
After retiring from her banking career, Ms. Hoeflich was recruited to return to service as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sheehan Memorial Hospital in June of 2007. She served as Sheehan’s Board Chair from 2003 – 2007 and was a major contributor in devising a plan for the hospital’s emergence from bankruptcy. During her tenure, Ms. Hoeflich initiated a number of changes including the introduction of a new name, Sheehan Health Network, that positioned the medical facility to become a leader in community healthcare. Ms. Hoeflich retired from Sheehan in February 2009.
Ms. Hoeflich is an active participant in various philanthropic and cultural organizations, and the recipient of numerous community and leadership awards. In addition to her service on the UB Council, she is a former trustee of the University at Buffalo Foundation, and serves as a trustee for the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Farm Credit East, ACA, BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, and the Community Health Foundation of Western New York. Ms. Hoeflich and her husband, Lester, are both involved in church and prison ministry.
