Ms. Pamela Davis Heilman was appointed to the UB Council on January 3, 2008 by Governor Eliot Spitzer, and reappointed in June 2009 by Governor David Paterson. Ms. Heilman is a 1975 graduate of the UB Law School where she currently serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council. In 2007, she chaired the Law School’s annual fund campaign. Ms. Heilman received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College.

Ms. Heilman is Of Counsel at the Hodgson Russ LLP law firm where, as a partner, she concentrated her practice on international commercial transactions, not-for-profit corporation and charities law and mergers and acquisitions. She is one of the lead attorneys in the firm’s Canada/U.S. cross-border practice group and frequently practices out of the firm’s Toronto office.

In connection with her Canadian activities, Ms. Heilman is a member of the board of governors of the Shaw Festival, one of the largest repertory theater companies in North America, and also currently serves on its executive committee. She is a board member and treasurer of the Canadian American Business Council based in Washington, D.C., and a board member of HealthyKids International US, a program of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. She also serves on the advisory board of the Canada Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars based in Washington, D.C. In 1999 she received the Canadian Ambassador’s Award in recognition of her efforts to build the Canada-U.S. trade relationship, and in 2008, Ms. Heilman was named Woman of the Year by the Organization of Women in International Trade which has chapters in over 20 countries for her support of women engaged in international trade.

From 1993 - 1997, Ms. Heilman served as chair of the board of directors of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, the first woman to hold this position. In 1992, she served as the general campaign chair for the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, again as the first woman to hold this position. Ms. Heilman is a member of the Western New York Women’s Hall of Fame, she has been named as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo and Erie County and served as the honorary chair of its annual fund campaign in 2005. In 2004 she received the Athena Award from the Buffalo/Niagara Partnership, all in recognition of her long time contributions in advancing the status of women in Western New York.
