Curriculum Mapping and Student Learning Outcomes

Curriculum maps are an effective tool for reviewing program offerings and checking for over/under coverage of the impact of curriculum within context. Participants will learn about curriculum mapping and student learning outcomes by interacting with and discussing example program designs. They will engage in building a curriculum map and use the map to assess the effectiveness of the program design.

Learning objectives

  • Define curriculum mapping and the operational connection to student learning outcomes
  • Create a sample curriculum map
  • Analyze a curriculum map for depth and breadth of coverage of content and application
  • Apply Bloom's taxonomy to a curriculum map
