The syllabus is the first piece of information students receive about a course. By making the syllabus more explicit and fluid, both teachers and students will be better able to understand its value in helping to navigate the course successfully.

In this presentation, we will offer suggestions to help make your syllabus more effective by learning how to use it as a tool for planning, communication, teaching and learning.

This is a hands-on workshop, so please bring a syllabus with you.

Making Accessible Documents Using Ally

Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, 2019

With an increase in the number of online courses and digital content, faculty face challenges when creating accessible content for all students. While some students have specific learning needs, others may simply have a preference for how they choose to receive and consume information.

Ally is a tool in UBlearns that helps improve the accessibility of course content. In the workshop, we will demonstrate how Ally auto-checks uploaded content for accessibility issues, offers feedback to correct problems and generates alternate visual and auditory accessible formats.

This is a hands-on workshop, so please bring a laptop and sample documents with you.
