UBCCC Staff at The Strong - National Museum of Play (March 20, 2014)

On March 20, 2014, UBCCC Staff attended their Staff Development Day at Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY.

As a NAEYC-accredited center, and as part of OCFS licensing requirements, UBCCC values staff training and development.  In order to establish our center as a Center of Excellence, we must employ high quality staff and remain up-to-date with the changing face of child care.

UBCCC encourages staff to further their educations by applying for training grants, going to Early Childhood Conventions (both locally and nationally) and offering on-site trainings and two full-day Staff Development Days.

They attended a workshop on “The Importance of Play,” toured the museum and its on-site Preschool and visited the Butterfly Garden.  This provided our staff a beneficial day of learning and togetherness.  It is good for staff to be away from the centers for a day.  Everyone returned feeling refreshed and eager to apply what was learned and, in turn, the children will benefit from the ideas that were shared.
