The University at Buffalo football team hosted eighth-ranked
Baylor in a primetime matchup on ESPN on Friday night. The
defending Big 12 champions, with the nation’s fourth ranked
offense, defeated the Bulls, 63-21, in front of 24,714 fans at UB
Stadium. The 21 points scored by UB were against a Baylor defense
that hadn’t allowed a touchdown all season.
Fresh off their tournament championship at the USF Invitational,
the University at Buffalo volleyball team returns to the road this
weekend, heading to the UIC Tournament in Chicago, Illinois. The
Bulls are now 4-3 on the season.
University at Buffalo rowing head coach Sandy Calfo announced on
Thursday the addition of MaryKate Frauenheim to her coaching staff.
An accomplished rower, Frauenheim is a Kenmore, NY native who rowed
for the prestigious West Side Rowing Club.

women’s soccer team improved their unbeaten streak to five
games on Sunday night at Niagara as they defeated the Purple Eagles
by the score of 2-0. With the win, UB moves to 4-0-1 on the season,
their best start to a season since the 2008 campaign.
GRAND ISLAND, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country
teams hosted their lone home meet of 2014, the UB Stampede
Invitational, Saturday at Beaver Island State Park. UB placed
second to Pittsburgh in both the men’s eight-kilometer race
and the women’s 5K.
Trailing, 47-17, in the fourth quarter, the University at
Buffalo football team fought back and nearly capped an improbable
comeback, but ultimately lost to the Black Knights, 47-39, at
Michie Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The University at Buffalo volleyball team picked up a pair of
wins on Saturday, clinching its first in-season title of the season
as they were crowned USF Invite Champions. The Bulls defeated
Florida International, 3-1, and then went on to sweep South
Carolina State, 3-0. The wins improve the Bulls to 4-3 on the

student-athletes on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team,
the league office announced on Tuesday morning. Making the squad
were seniors Tanvi Shah and Marta Stoyanova. For Shah, this is the
second time she has been named to the Academic All-MAC team, while
the honor for Stoyanova is her first.
Freshman Russell Cicerone of the UB men's soccer team was named
the National Premier Soccer League's National Player of the Week
for the period ending May 18. Currently a starter for FC Buffalo,
Cicerone earned his club the first weekly honor in its all-time
history in the national league.
University at Buffalo softball senior Heather Ryder has agreed
to continue her softball career as she will be playing for the
Hoofddorp Pioniers in the Netherlands. The Hoofddorp Pioniers are
part of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation.
