INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced Tuesday that the University at Buffalo has been selected to host the NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regionals for 2018 and 2019. The event will be held at Audubon Golf Course, just minutes from the North Campus.

University at Buffalo wrestler Kyle Akins was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Team on Tuesday. Awarded annually, the NWCA All-Academic Team is comprised of 135 student-athletes.

BUFFALO, NY – Behind a career-high six RBI from senior second baseman Brian Dudek, the University at Buffalo baseball team (11-22, 3-6 MAC) picked up a dominant 14-6 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins on Tuesday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex. The UB offense produced 15 hits while notching at least 14 runs for the second time in their last three games.

The University at Buffalo softball team lost a pair of mid-week contests at Binghamton on Tuesday, losing the first game 3-2 and the second contest 6-2.

BUFFALO, NY – After performances that left the Bulls with two broken school records, a new facility record, and multiple personal records, the men’s and women’s track and field team have both landed in the Top-Five in the latest Northeast Regional Rankings. The men remain in fifth place, while the women move up one spot to third.

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team won four of six matches in singles play, leading the Bulls to a 4-3 comeback victory over Miami (OH), Sunday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo baseball team (10-22, 3-6 MAC) dropped their third straight on Sunday afternoon to the Toledo Rockets in the series finale at Scott Park by the score of 7-6. Chris Kwitzer led the way for the Bulls as he collected two hits and three RBI in the loss.

TOLEDO, OH – Senior designated hitter Vinny Mallaro had a monster game at the plate on Saturday afternoon but it wasn’t enough as the University at Buffalo baseball team (10-21, 3-5 MAC) dropped their second straight to the Toledo Rockets in a slugfest, 21-20. Mallaro went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs and a program record nine RBI in the loss.

The University at Buffalo softball team lost a pair of games on Saturday at Bowling Green, falling in the opener 2-0 before losing the second contest 3-2.

LEWISBURG, PA – The University at Buffalo track and field team completed competition at the Bison Open held at Bucknell University on Saturday. The competition ended with several Top-Ten finishes and some new personal best marks for the Bulls.

BUFFALO, NY – Head coach Vicki Mitchell announced the addition of six athletes for the upcoming 2017-2018 track and field season. Leon Atkins, Jhada Francis, Patrick Hazlitt, Brianna Mckenzie, Emma Seiders, and Nakia Williams will be joining the Bulls in 2017.

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis teams rolled past Bowling Green on Friday afternoon as the Bulls swept the Falcons, 7-0. The win was UB’s second straight in Mid-American Conference play. The match was UB’s first home contest this spring to be held outdoors at the University Tennis Center on campus.

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo baseball team (10-20, 3-4 MAC) saw their late rally come up just short on Friday afternoon in the opening game of a three-game series against MAC foe Toledo. The Bulls loaded the bases with one out in the ninth but were only able to score one run as they fell 4-3 to the Rockets.

The University at Buffalo football team held its annual Blue and White Scrimmage on Friday night at UB Stadium. While the Bulls showed positives on both sides of the ball, it was the defense that provided many of the highlights.

The University at Buffalo football team will hold its annual Blue & White Scrimmage on Friday night at UB Stadium. The scrimmage is free and open to the public and will give fans their first glimpse at the 2017 UB football squad.

The visiting Akron Zips broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh as they defeated the University at Buffalo softball team, 3-2, Wednesday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.

The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Canisius at the Demske Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Griffins won game one, 6-5, and game two, 13-5.

University at Buffalo softball junior Charlotte Miller has been named the MAC East Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. She is the first UB softball player honored by the MAC this season.

BUFFALO, NY – After an impressive weekend that left with a broken school record and several Top-Five finishes, the University at Buffalo track and field team were regionally ranked in the Top-Five in the Northeast Region. The men currently sit in fifth, directly behind Cornell, while the women sit in fourth behind Columbia.

Sophomore Ally Power hit a bloop single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, sending the Bulls to a 4-3 comeback victory in extra innings over Western Michigan. Sophomore Catrell Robertson had a pair of huge hits, leading the Bulls to the comeback in their home opener at Nan Harvey Field.

The University at Buffalo women’s rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup in New Jersey over the weekend. High winds made for tough conditions and forced some changes to the schedule.

ROCHESTER, NY – Behind a pair of strong pitching performances by the Buffalo starting pitchers, the University at Buffalo baseball team (10-17, 3-3 MAC) was able to split a Sunday doubleheader with the Northern Illinois Huskies at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. The Bulls fell 2-1 in the first game before coming back with a 3-1 win over the Huskies in the second game of the day.

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team picked up its first Mid-American Conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Bulls won at Northern Illinois, 4-3.

BUFFALO, NY – Behind a big day at the plate by senior Vinny Mallaro, the University at Buffalo baseball team (9-16, 2-2 MAC) collected their second MAC win of the season on Saturday night as they downed the Northern Illinois Huskies, 6-3. Mallaro finished off his impressive game going 3-for-4 with a season-high four RBI in the win.

BUFFALO, NY – The defending Mid-American Conference champion University at Buffalo women’s basketball team has been picked to finish second in the MAC East division, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. The Bulls earned three first-place votes in the preseason Coaches’ Poll while also earning one vote to win the regular season championship and one vote to win the conference tournament.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team (7-7-5, 4-4-3 MAC) was able to clinch their third straight trip to the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon as they handed the Akron Zips a 1-0 defeat at UB Stadium. The Bulls totally controlled the tempo of the match as Celina Carrero netted the game-winner, her first this season.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team will look to lock up a Mid-American Conference Tournament spot on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 pm as they welcome the Akron Zips to UB Stadium in both teams regular season finale. With a win or a draw, the Bulls will secure their third straight trip to the conference tournament.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo’s swimming and diving team hits the water again on Friday, October 28th. The Bulls will be traveling to Pittsburgh, PA for a 5:00 pm meet. Last Saturday, the Bulls were visited by the Cornell Bears in a non-scoring match. The Bulls performance proved that this will be an exciting season.

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo’s men’s and women’s cross country teams are getting ready to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, October 29th in Kent, OH. Both teams are looking to improve on last year’s results. In 2015, the men took away a sixth place finish while the women took home a fifth place finish.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team (6-7-5, 3-4-3 MAC) played to their third straight draw on Senior Day at UB Stadium on Sunday. The Bulls and Central Michigan CHippewas drew even, 1-1. Carissima Cutrona netted the lone UB goal as she has now notched a team-high 10 goals on the year.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo’s swimming and diving team had their first meet of the season on Saturday against the Cornell Bears. The event was a non-scoring meet, but Buffalo proved an impressive showing in both the pool and the diving well.

Turnovers cost the University at Buffalo football team in a 44-7 loss to Northern Illinois at Huskie Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies were able to capitalize on Buffalo’s four first-half turnovers to build a 31-7 lead at the half and never looked back. It was a disappointing afternoon for a team that had prided itself on taking care of the football – committing only three turnovers in the previous five games.

Freshman Hao Sheng Koay had an impressive day on Saturday as he picked up a pair of singles victories to move into the round of 16 at the ITA Northeast Regionals. Koay also joined teammate Ethan Nittolo in doubles and moved into the round of 16 there as well.

BUFFALO, NY – Senior captain Russell Cicerone continued his home prowess on Friday night as he buried the game-tying goal with under a minute remaining in regulation to help lead the University at Buffalo men’s soccer team (9-3-2, 1-1-1 MAC) to a 1-1 draw with Western Michigan. With his game-tying goal, Cicerone now has 12 goals on the year and he notched his 101st career point, becoming just the second UB player and third in MAC history to do so.
