BUFFALO, NY – UB cross country head coach Vicki Mitchell announced her programs’ 2014 schedules on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulls will compete in seven races and will aim for their first-ever Mid-American Conference team championships.


BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo baseball standout outfielder Jason Kanzler has been promoted to the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League (High-A), as announced by the Minnesota Twins on Monday.


Representatives from the University at Buffalo, Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure announced today that the four Division I Western New York schools will all take part in the Big 4 Basketball Classic on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the First Niagara Center. Niagara will play host to St. Bonaventure in the first game of the hoops twinbill at 2 p.m., followed by Canisius hosting Buffalo at 4:15 p.m.


UB’s all-time leading scorer and the 2014 MAC Player of the Year, Javon McCrea has signed to play professionally with Medi Bayreuth in Germany. Medi Bayreuth is based out of Bayreuth, Bavaria and it plays in the highest division in Germany.


Head coach Jeff Quinn, junior quarterback Joe Licata and senior nose tackle Kristjan Sokoli represented UB at MAC Media Day on July 23 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI.

As August approaches, the UB men's soccer team will welcome back a roster of eight starters and nine newcomers. Four UB players spent the Summer offseason competing for local club FC Buffalo. The Wolves wrapped up their fifth season in the National Premier Soccer League on Sunday with a 5-1 win over Michigan Stars FC. Sophomore Russell Cicerone finished the season as the team's leading scorer, while senior Waleed Cassis earned the starting goalkeeper role for the team.

BUFFALO, NY – Four University at Buffalo outdoor track and field athletes have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Men's athletes Austin Price and Jacob Sunday were two of 22 athletes on the men's side, and women's athletes Regine Lazard and Kelly Truppo were named to their respective Academic All-MAC teams.


EUGENE, OR - The University at Buffalo track and field team had three freshman athletes compete at the USATF Junior National Championships this past weekend at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Alec Peinkofer gave the Bulls their best finish as he took home eighth place in the 3,000m steeplechase.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Adding to his storybook junior campaign, Jonathan Jones had the best performance in school and MAC history in the shot put on Wednesday night at the USATF National Championships. Jones recorded a fourth place finish with a school and MAC record throw, finishing first amongst six NCAA competitors in the event.


In a record-setting season for the UB softball team, a pair of starters were named to the Mid-American Conference's All-Academic team on Monday. Senior Sammi Gallardo and junior Alexis Curtiss made the 22-member team, while senior Heather Ryder was honorable mention.


BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling coaching staff will be hosting instructional summer camps on July 6-10. The Bulls will be holding camps for 8-12 grade wrestlers along with another camp for middle school wrestlers.

BUFFALO, NY – Head wrestling coach John Stutzman completed his coaching staff on Monday, announcing the addition of Josh Roosa and Justin Grant. Roosa will come to the Bulls an assistant coach while Grant will be a volunteer assistant under Stutzman next season.


The University at Buffalo women's basketball coaching staff has announced a pair of summer camps, available for campers entering grades 2-12. It begins with a five-day fundamental camp that starts July 14, followed by a one-day position clinic on Aug. 2. The team also announced the cancellation of the June 21 Elite Camp, and the expansion up to grade nine for girls eligible to participate in the Fundamentals Camp.


The UB softball staff announced a pair of changes to the upcoming summer camp schedule. The June 25 pitching showcase has been cancelled, and the weekly pitching clinic that was scheduled to begin July 2 will instead start on July 9. Brochures for the softball summer camps are available at


As the start of the 2014 season comes ever closer, the UB men’s soccer team rounded out the roster Friday with the addition of an assistant coach. Ben Fredrickson will become a member of head coach Stu Riddle’s staff.

Between a balancing a summer class schedule to complete her master’s degree and wrapping up her career with the women’s basketball team, Jenna Rickan took time to give back recently when she traveled to Haiti for a service trip. Working with the Poverty Resolutions organization, the Kenmore native spent time visiting orphanages in the region and bring two subjects she knows well to the children: soccer and basketball.


The University at Buffalo women's tennis team placed two student-athletes on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, the league office announced on Tuesday morning. Making the squad were seniors Tanvi Shah and Marta Stoyanova. For Shah, this is the second time she has been named to the Academic All-MAC team, while the honor for Stoyanova is her first.


Freshman Russell Cicerone of the UB men's soccer team was named the National Premier Soccer League's National Player of the Week for the period ending May 18. Currently a starter for FC Buffalo, Cicerone earned his club the first weekly honor in its all-time history in the national league.


University at Buffalo softball senior Heather Ryder has agreed to continue her softball career as she will be playing for the Hoofddorp Pioniers in the Netherlands. The Hoofddorp Pioniers are part of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation.
