The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team advanced to Saturday’s Mid-American Conference Championship match with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Northern Illinois in the semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls will now face top-seeded Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon for the conference title.

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team (15-27, 6-12 MAC) fell on Friday afternoon in the opening game of a three-game series on the road at first-place Ohio, 9-1. Sophomore Jenelle Martinez notched the lone RBI in the loss for UB as she now has a career-high and team-best 33 runs batted in on the year.

The women’s tennis team has dominated the Mid-American Conference this season going 8-0 in the conference and 15-3 overall.  This is the team’s first conference title in a regular season and the team is riding a 12-match winning streak as they head to the conference tournament hosted by Ball State in Muncie, IN this weekend.

After winning their first Mid-American Conference regular season title, the University at Buffalo women’s tennis team cleaned up on the postseason awards as head coach Kristen Maines was named the 2018 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year, while Tanja Stojanovska, Chantal Martinez Blanco, and Lolade Ogungbesan all earned All-MAC honors.

Sean Boyle has been hired as assistant wrestling coach at the University at Buffalo, head coach John Stutzman announced on Wednesday. Boyle comes to Buffalo from Cal State Bakersfield where he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach.

The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team swept the final Mid-American Conference Player of the Week awards on Wednesday as sophomore Hao Sheng Koay was named the singles player of the week and seniors Vidit Vaghela and Petr Vodak were named doubles team of the week.

Head coach Nate Oats has announced the signing of Tra’Von Fagan for the upcoming 2018-19 season. A native of Waterloo, IA, Fagan played last season at Florida Southwestern State College and he will have three years of eligibility left starting next season.

The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team concluded the regular season on Sunday with a 5-2 win at Ball State as the Bulls secured the #2 seed in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament. Buffalo is now 12-9 on the season and 5-2 in MAC play with both conference losses coming against the top seed, Western Michigan.

A number of personal bests were set by University at Buffalo track and field student-athletes on the final day of the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Saturday. The Bulls faced off against very strong competition and it was a good preview of the East Regional Competition that UB will see at the end of May at NCAA East Prelims at UCF.

KENT, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team (15-26, 6-11 MAC) dropped both ends of a Saturday doubleheader against the Kent State Golden Flashes on the road. The Flashes handed Buffalo the 10-2 loss in the first game and the 13-1 defeat in game two. Catrell Robertson closed out her day with her first two home runs of the season in the defeats.

The University at Buffalo track and field team is competing at the Larry Invitational hosted by Princeton University this weekend and posted some solid results on the first day on Friday.

For the first time in school history, the University at Buffalo women’s tennis team claimed the MAC Regular Season Title with a 7-0 win over Ball State on Friday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls won their 12th straight match as they capped off a perfect 8-0 MAC season. Overall, the Bulls improve to 15-3 on the season.

The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team earned a 6-1 win at Northern Illinois on Friday afternoon, beginning the final regular season weekend. The Bulls improved to 11-9 with the win and 4-2 in league play. With a win on Sunday, UB will clinch the #2 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament.

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women’s soccer midfielder Julia Benati was announced as a recipient of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Benati joined 57 other fall student-athletes from across all three levels of the NCAA to earn the award.

University at Buffalo wrestlers Kyle Akins and Bryan Lantry were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team on Thursday. Awarded annually, the NWCA All-Academic Team was comprised of 155 student-athletes this year.

Leandra Jew and Taylor Scott each notched their first career home runs in the game one victory over their crosstown rivals.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo’s swimming and diving team hits the water again on Friday, October 28th. The Bulls will be traveling to Pittsburgh, PA for a 5:00 pm meet. Last Saturday, the Bulls were visited by the Cornell Bears in a non-scoring match. The Bulls performance proved that this will be an exciting season.
