The Town Hall meeting of December 16, 2005 heard a presentation
of the draft IT Strategic Transformation recommendations, which
identify specific goals to help position UBit for the future. Along
with those recommendations, the Executive Committee unveiled a Bill
of Rights that outlines the basic levels of support expected by the
community and a set of Guiding Principles for achieving successful
transformation.
Elias Eldayrie, Associate Vice President for Information
Technology introduced the Town Hall Meeting, thanking the IT
community for its work on the draft IT Strategic Transformation
recommendations. Ray Dannenhoffer, a member of the Best Practices
and Institutional Models Subcommittee, presented the
recommendations which identify specific goals to help position UBit
for the future. They are:
-
Establish an institutional process for
effective IT decision making and funding
-
Build a robust and adaptable technology
foundation
-
Improve user support
-
Optimize IT management
-
Enhance IT support for innovation in
instruction & research
Mr. Dannenhoffer reminded the meeting that this is still a draft
document and welcomed additional contributions. He also addressed
in more detail the topic of capacity, noting that funding is not
likely to increase dramatically, but that minor changes and new
approaches to existing systems could maximize efficiency.
Along with those recommendations, the Executive Committee
unveiled a Bill of Rights that outlines the basic levels of support
expected by the university community, and a set of Guiding
Principles for achieving successful transformation.
