The objective of Phase I was to recommend a solution that
would:
- Gather and transform various enterprise data sources reliably,
consistently, and in a timely manner into a trusted data
source
- Make it easier for customers to analyze and report on
information
- Offer decision tools that support strategic planning
The team explored requirements and alternatives with campus
groups, other Universities, Gartner, and vendors that resulted in
defined requirements and a business case. These discussions
highlighted the need for a single authoritative data source for UB
enterprise information, including Student, Research, Financial,
Human Resources, Space, and Philanthropy. After extensive
evaluation of vendor solutions Oracle Business Intelligence
Enterprise Edition (formerly Siebel Analytics) was selected for
initial implementation of a Financial and Human Resources Business
Intelligence solution. The Business Intelligence Consulting Group,
Inc. is assisting with the implementation. The solution builds on
and enhances UB InfoSource. Phase I of the SIRI Initiative was
successfully completed in February 2007 with the approval of the
business case, requirements, requirements, solution recommendation,
approach, and budget by the President, Provost, EVP, Deans, and
VPs. SIRI Phase II began in March 2007.
