Progress is being made with Microsoft to address reporting tools
and needs.
Testing with a subset of University IT Support Services was
successful.
Proposals have been prepared for a firewall solution (Symantec
Endpoint Protection for workstations and eEye for servers) and
patch services (Microsoft WSUS and Shalvik HFNetProtect for both
platforms), reported Joe Mantione, team leader. Support model
discussions for primary and individual service plans are on the
teams' upcoming agendas.
The team has put forth a proposal for Phase I of patch
management in support of "UB Campus Patch Management System", which
includes the purchase of two servers to run Microsoft WSUS on the
north and south campuses.
Richard Amantia, team leader for
anti-virus/patch/firewall/backup implementation team facilitated
the discussion which was primarily on the topic of firewalls.
