Realizing UB 2020 Task Force Recommendations

Student union on north campus in winter

February 6, 2014

In the summer of 2013, Provost Zukoski launched seven task forces to develop recommendations for priorities, cost, timelines, and implementation strategies related to Realizing UB 2020 goals and initiatives. Each of these task forces included members representing perspectives from across the university, and each was tasked with a charge and specific deliverables.

The task forces have now completed their reports, which are available below. Signature and priority recommendations from the reports include:

  • Communities of Excellence
  • Innovation Scholars
  • New General Education curriculum
  • Significant International Experience
  • Experiential learning programs
  • Inter-Professional Education
  • Expanded Undergraduate Academies
  • Pedagogical excellence and innovation
  • Enhanced engagement activities
  • Young alumni programs
  • Enhanced student recreational opportunities and facilities
  • Heart of the Campus

The task forces reports are complete, but there is still much work that remains to be done before these initiatives can be fully implemented.  The university must also align its priorities with the available budget.

Provost Zukoski is appreciative of the time and effort the task forces devoted to their charge.  Their comprehensive reports contain recommendations that are thoughtful, persuasive, and impactful.  Because of their effort, the UB community can be confident that the UB 2020 programs and initiatives we pursue over the next several years will be deliberate, targeted, and beneficial for our entire campus community.
